While our faces get all the attention with beautiful makeup and skincare, our bodies are often neglected by many of us, including myself. I do not have an extensive body care routine but I try to deal with the problems I have.
Since I have dry skin, I try to avoid SLS. SLS (Sodium Lauryl Sulfate) is a harsh chemical that irritates and stips the natural oil of our skin. I do not see the point of stripping oil and replacing that with moisturiser. Alongside my body wash and shampoo, I also try to avoid SLS in my hand wash. I am currently using Soaper Duper handwash, which is amazing. I use La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Hands as my hand cream because it absorbs quickly and improves barrier function.
Having dry skin, I try to avoid body scrubs but I use foot scrub as I do not like the feel of something excessive (layer of skin) on my feet, not even socks. I am using The Body Shop Peppermint Reviving Pumice Foot Scrub to refresh and refine my feet once in a while, although I do not like the fact that it has SLS. I use Emjoi Micro Pedi regularly and moisturise with Palmers Heel Repair Stick to avoid getting my heels painfully cracked.
For everyday shower, I am using Yes To Cucumber bodywash. Before this, I used Yes To Blueberries body wash because I like how gentle their products are. They are also SLS, paraben, and cruelty-free. These, however, are not fragrance-free, which neither bothers me nor excites me or make my skin sensitive.
I sometimes also use oils like Weleda body oil or Yes to Primrose oil on my body to give it both nutrition and glow. I also use NIP+FAB Glycolic Fix Body Cream because the glycolic acid in it exfoliates skin. I tried this for keratosis pilaris (chicken skin) on my arms but this does not work like magic on them, unfortunately, so I am trying The Ordinary AHA BHA Peeling Solution, a couple of times a week, which is working better for me, although they have not cleared up yet. I try to use sunscreen regularly but I have not yet perfected religiously applying and reapplying enough on my body every day, which is, however, covered most of the time. Hopefully, some days I will reapply on my body just as much as needed (fingers crossed). I am using a sunscreen by Nivea for my body and La Roche Posay Anthelios on my face, neck and hands.
However, what I think is most important for my body care is maintaining a healthy lifestyle by drinking enough water, eating well and exercising. I try to practice them regularly and track them in my bullet journal. I am not including occasional pamper routine with cutting nails, pushing cuticles and shaving in this post but if you are interested to read my thorough pamper routine, please visit my facebook page and don’t forget to give it a like. Great post! I have some good products for skin care at home which would work for me, but my problem is not applying them regularly. I definitely agree with the last paragraph, living healthy is alfa and omega for good skin condition. Thank you for sharing your tips.

I agree we often lack care of our body care and focus on our face.

The mind-body connection isn’t talked about a lot outside of the mental health community but it is a real thing and it’s so beneficial if you can figure it out! Yoga is perfect for that.

Nutrition is a huge factor for our skin. You are right about sometimes forgetting about the rest of our body. I just moved to the desert and have had to really work on making sure my whole body is hydrated!
